Tinto de Verano (Summer Red Wine)
After you taste this light, refreshing summer drink, sangria will be a distant memory.
Ingredients
- Ice
- Lemon or orange slices, for garnish
- 1 bottle inexpensive, Spanish red wine (such as Protocolo Tinto)
- An equivalent amount of lemon soda*
- *Lemon Fanta is commonly used in Spain; it may or may not be available where you live. I prefer a strongly-flavored, tart sparkling lemonade, such as Whole Foods Lemon Italian Soda, or San Pellegrino Limonata.

Step 1
- Fill 4 serving glasses with ice and your choice of lemon or orange slices.
Step 2
- Fill each glass halfway with wine and halfway with lemon soda, and stir to combine.
