Endless Summer

About this Recipe

By: Hannah

I’m excited to share a guest post with you today. My friend and colleague, Hannah Moore, is Director of Philanthropy at Temple Rodef Shalom in Falls Church, Virginia. She took up cocktailing with a friend when their children headed off to college, and hasn’t looked back since. She is also the author of Shabbat Cocktails. Head on over to check out more of her creations!

I love cocktails, but my bartending skills are not as strong as my cooking skills. Hannah, by contrast, has a real gift for concocting mixed drinks, so I am delighted to be able to share her recipes, tricks, and tips with you.

Today, she is sharing her recipe for “Endless Summer,” the perfect drink for using up the last of our summer produce. It’s just what you want to drink as we head into September and soak up those final few warm, summer evenings before the chill of autumn sets in.

As summer draws to a close, we are savoring the last weeks of the juicy peaches, sweet red watermelon, and ripe tomatoes. In honor of the waning days till autumn comes around, here is an end-of-summer peach cocktail that marries the sweet and sour taste of stone fruit with the autumnal tones of rye—or bourbon, if that’s your preference. Could there be anything that tastes more of this liminal time? Don’t skip the Peychaud’s bitters—this genius suggestion from Southern Living adds the sunset color to the cocktail. —Hannah Moore
